Marketplace rules and safety
Draft for review. This page is a starting template written for Tonga676. It is not legal advice and should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer (for example against the Australian Privacy Act 1988, the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Australian Consumer Law) before the site launches.
The marketplace helps community members find each other. Tonga676 doesn’t handle payments, delivery or refunds: buyers and sellers deal directly and are responsible for their own agreements.
Rules for sellers
- List only things you own and are allowed to sell, described honestly, with your own photos.
- Show the real price, or leave it empty for “price on request”.
- One listing per item. Mark it sold or delete it when it’s gone.
- Not allowed: weapons, drugs and controlled substances, alcohol and tobacco, counterfeit goods, stolen goods, live animals, adult content, medicines, and anything illegal where you or the buyer live. Kava is fine where it’s legal to sell and send.
- Follow the import and quarantine rules if sending food, kava, plants or crafts between countries (Australia’s and New Zealand’s biosecurity rules are strict).
Staying safe
- Meet in a busy public place, and bring a friend or family member if you can.
- See the item before you pay. Be careful of prices that seem too good to be true.
- Never send money by gift cards, crypto or money transfer to someone you haven’t met.
- Don’t share bank logins, passwords or one-time codes with anyone.
- Keep conversations on Tonga676 so moderators can help if something goes wrong.
- Report suspicious listings with the Report button. If you’ve been scammed, contact your bank and police (Australia: ReportCyber / Scamwatch; New Zealand: Netsafe).
Moderation
Moderators can remove listings that break these rules and may sanction accounts. Removed listings can be reviewed on request.
